Our Story
Cyclopolis started in 2010 as a “crazy” idea of a team passionate about cycling and better urban life. We foresaw the rise of Bike Sharing Systems in Greece. However, the implementation of the idea raised important questions to us.
How can we ensure that these Systems will be adapted to the specific needs of each city? Will they be truly user-friendly and functional, so as to meet user requirements? Will they contribute substantially to the promotion of cycling or, on the contrary, they will delay it?
Existing systems did not provide clear answers to these questions. We wanted to design solutions that would not only bring shared bikes to Greece, but also offer optimal user experience, tailored to the needs of each local community. Effectively, we have designed, implemented and operated some of the most successful bike sharing systems in Greece.
Since 2014, our R&D Department has been actively participating in European research projects, the result of which is inventing solutions for unveiling “urban pollution hotspots” using innovative sensor technologies, both moving (mainly shared micromobility vehicles) and stationary.
